About Dr. Michelle Vallier
Michelle Vallier is a versatile performer, equally at home in the solo, chamber and orchestral fields. Dr. Vallier has performed throughout the country, including recent recital tours across the Midwest, Florida and Arizona. In spring 2012, she gave a series of lecture recitals on Carl Nielsen’s two works for solo violin at Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University and Wichita State University, and served as a featured performer for “Reimagining Erwin Schulhoff, Viktor Ullmann & the German-Jewish-Czech World,” an international interdisciplinary conference at Arizona State University.
An experienced orchestral musician, Dr. Vallier spent numerous seasons with groups such as the Wheeling and Youngstown Symphony Orchestras, the Pittsburgh and Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestras and the Arizona Chamber Orchestra. Her chamber music activity extends from the classical repertoire to new music, baroque performance practice and alternative styles. Dr. Vallier has worked extensively with string quartets such as Takács, Orion and St. Lawrence, as well as individuals such as Dr. Robert Spring, Andrés Cárdenes and Sidney Harth. She has performed on violin and viola as Guest Artist for the Saarburger Serenaden International Music Festival and the Vianden Music Festival.
Dr. Vallier has over fifteen years of experience teaching violin, viola and chamber music to students of all ages. Most notably, she has served as an assistant chamber music coach at Meadowmount School of Music and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in chamber music and studio violin, working with both undergraduate and graduate music majors at Arizona State University. She is currently an instructor with the West Michigan Junior Strings and the Nancy K. Poppen Program locally, and maintains a private studio as well.
Michelle lives in the North Muskegon area, and is enjoying the beautiful state of Michigan with her daughter Sage.
