Maddie Timmers is ten years old and won the spelling bee at her school this year.

Maddie has been visiting The Book Nook since we opened our doors.  She is a very strong reader and this is her first book review!

This is a review for the Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick!

The story is about an orphaned boy named Hugo Cabret who takes care of clocks in the train station.  One thing that I enjoyed was the illustrations and how the author would make them come alive by close up pictures.  I also think it was exciting that Hugo could build the automaton without a book to assist him.  I thought Brian Selznick did a good job describing the characters in the book because I could tell that Isabelle was very pretty and that the uncle was quite mean.

Debra from the bookstore suggested this book to my mom and I because it was her favorite book and now it is mine. I give this book five stars.
