Hi. I read this book, the Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. In the beginning of this book the house that belongs to Sam Westing who is supposedly dead is rented out to the many people who will soon become the victims of this “game”. When Sam’s will is read, he explains the object of his made-up game. Once the players have learned who their partners are and what the object of the game is which is to find out who murdered Sam Westing, they start playing the game with only $10,000, clues, and each other. A little while into the game, a very strange man appears to be one of the players and is named Sandy. He is actually Sam Westing himself though remember I said that most players think he is actually dead? Well the book reveals that at the end. This book can be an absolute barrel of fun! A really mysterious and mind haunting part is that in his will Westing writes,”...Only I know who the true murderer is in this room and your job is to find out…” I absolutely love the part when fire crackers explode under about 15 jars of tomato sauce, blowing them up of course! This obviously sends tomato sauce flying everywhere inside and on the cook which has surprisingly fallen down on the floor in shock. This causes a loud sound of course which causes all of the other players and partners to rush in thinking that all the tomato sauce is blood. Hilarious right? I especially recommend this book for fun-loving mystery lovers. Don’t forget, The WESTING GAME BY ELLEN RASKIN.
